Abby & Ethan’s vintage-inspired Catskills wedding was infused with joy and color in every detail from the bride’s brightly sequined shoes to the whimsical ribbon wand send-off. The pure happiness the couple brought to their Beaverkill Valley Inn wedding day was so infectious it even rubbed off on the weather. There were off and on showers beginning in the morning, but the sky dried up and the sun shone through just in time for Abby and Ethan’s beautiful outdoor ceremony on the lawn.
With Abby’s love for all things vintage and the gorgeous outdoor setting, most of this day was captured on 35mm and medium format film!
The Morning

Staying true to her personal style even as a bride, Abby incorporated various vintage elements into her wedding day. Her wedding dress and veil were a 1960s time capsule, purchased separately from local vintage bridal shops. In addition to her dress, she also wore a vintage nightgown to get ready in the morning and borrowed some family heirloom jewelry pieces from her mother!

The girls and the boys got ready separately in the morning, with Abby and Ethan opting for their first look to be down the aisle. While the boys played pool and took group photos outside with my second shooter, the girls hung out around the pool house and snuck ice cream from behind the old-fashioned ice cream bar. While waiting out the rain, Abby and her bridesmaids reminisced about her days working at Dairy Queen in high school!

The Ceremony
With the weather in the morning not looking good, it was unclear whether Abby and Ethan would be able to have their ceremony on the lawn as planned. The couple held out until the last minute, hoping the weather would subside. Their loved ones were supportive, with some guests even volunteering to dry off the ceremony chairs. The wedding party was lined up and ready to go as the rain cleared and a patch of sun filtered through just in time!

Portraits

The Reception
While Abby and Ethan snuck away with us for portraits and family photos, cocktail hour was in full swing inside the inn, filtering out to the house’s wraparound porch. The guests enjoyed cocktails and conversation before trekking across the lawn to the tented reception space. Under the classic sailcloth tent many of the couple’s vintage and handmade elements were on display from the mid-century cake topper to the retro “just married” sign and handmade book wall.

Later in the evening when everyone was in the mood for a little sweet, Abby and Ethan cut the wedding cake and the kids took to hitting the pinata. Abby actually made the pinata herself out of cardboard boxes so the kids would have a fun activity for themselves – such a cute idea!

Later in the evening, we borrowed Abby and Ethan from their loved ones for some portraits with Abby’s second look (also vintage of course). The couple had mentioned wanting sunset portraits, and the backdrop was absolutely perfect. With the fog rolling over the trees and sunset reflecting a pastel hue on the pond, the setting felt quintessential to the Catskills.

Late Night

Once the dancing started to die down, we asked Abby and Ethan if they were interested in getting in the pool. After a quick detour to grab their swimsuits from their room, Abby and Ethan were ready to take their first newlywed dip in the pool! It was such a fun way to end the night!
