Western Mountain Wedding in Oregon | Tatiana & Luke

Tatiana and Luke’s western mountain wedding was a love letter come alive. With an open field ceremony in front of the Wallowa Mountains and reception at the local general store turned pizza joint, Tati and Luke made sure their wedding was beautiful, romantic, but most of all, unique to their relationship. While the couple live in San Francisco, Luke’s family moved to Joseph, Oregon a few years ago, and it’s become a place that both Tati and Luke have fallen in love with. Luke and Tatiana have existed together, separately, and in a variety of places – there’s a weathered stack of postcards and love letters to narrate their story – but Joseph is a place where they come back to time and time again.

Documented on 35mm, medium format, polaroid, and super 8mm video, Tatiana and Luke’s rural mountain town wedding was the perfect canvas for an analog only gallery!

The Morning

The day started off cold and cloudy with the sky teasing a chance of rain. With nothing to do but wait to see if the weather turns, Tatiana spent the morning getting ready at a small cabin with her mother and sister while Luke hung out with his boys at The Jennings Hotel nearby.

Luke and Tatiana put thought into every detail. Tatiana’s dress started out as a vintage ebay find that she ended up having modernized by a woman who used to work in costuming for the San Francisco ballet. Her cowboy boots were custom-made in a shiny silver with star cutouts and the couple’s initials on the pull tabs. Tati’s mom even made the couple their own matching bolo ties!

The Ceremony

The rain decided to hold off and Luke and Tatiana’s ceremony was held in front of a beautiful mountain backdrop. The couple’s out-of-town friends began to file in, many donning cowboy boots and wide-brimmed hats for the occasion. With Joseph being nestled deep in Eastern Oregon, Tati and Luke thought holding their wedding there would allow for the perfect opportunity to get all their friends to experience this special place they love!

While the airy was chilly, the love and adrenaline Tati had for finally getting married to Luke managed to warm her up throughout the ceremony. For his vows, Luke read a letter he wrote to Tatiana but had never actually shown her – so sweet and touching!

After the ceremony, marriage license signing, and some quick group photos, everyone boarded a school bus to make their way into town for the reception!

The Reception

Tatiana and Luke’s reception was held at M. Crow, one of their favorite local restaurants. M. Crow is not only a well-known (and delicious) pizza restaurant, it’s also been an operational general store since 1906. Tati and Luke managed to make great use out of the local staple, holding their cocktail hour on the back patio, their seated dinner in the front, and the dance floor in one the restaurant’s back rooms.

Playing into the fun and kitschiness of a pizza joint, Tati and Luke wrapped the dinner tables in classic red and white check tablecloths, placed their centerpieces in tomato cans, and served everyone’s meal on hand-painted paper plates!

The Night

Tati proved that her boots were made for dancing as the couple and their loved ones spun the night away to a mix of modern country and pop hits from the 2010’s. From boot stomping to bolo tie limbo, Tati and Luke celebrated their marriage into the night fueled by cake and modelo sours!
